Add Dotsy's MCP server URL, https://mcp.dotsy.ai/mcp, to your AI as a custom connector (Claude, ChatGPT) or MCP server (Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code), then sign in to Dotsy when it asks. There are no API keys to copy and nothing to install.
Once connected, you can ask in plain words: "Use the Dotsy connector to build me a site for my bakery in Austin." Dotsy has no AI of its own, so you use the AI you already pay for and never buy AI credits from us.
Claude (web and desktop)
Works on any Claude plan; Free includes one custom connector.
- Open Customize → Connectors (older versions: Settings → Connectors).
- Click +, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Dotsy, paste
https://mcp.dotsy.ai/mcpand click Add. - Click Connect and sign in to Dotsy in the tab that opens.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it once under Organization settings → Connectors, then everyone clicks Connect.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT supports custom MCP servers through Developer mode, a beta on the web for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu.
- In Settings, turn on Developer mode (under Security and login, or Apps → Advanced).
- Create a new app: name it Dotsy, paste the URL, set authentication to OAuth, and confirm you trust it.
- Sign in to Dotsy, then turn Dotsy on from the Developer mode tool in a chat.
ChatGPT marks custom apps as unverified and asks before write actions. That's expected. Menu names move around in this beta; the URL stays the same.
Cursor
- Click Add to Cursor on dotsy.ai/connect and confirm Install.
- In Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP, click Connect next to dotsy and sign in.
Or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "dotsy": { "url": "https://mcp.dotsy.ai/mcp" } } }
Claude Code
Run this in your terminal, then type /mcp, pick dotsy and choose Authenticate:
claude mcp add --transport http dotsy https://mcp.dotsy.ai/mcp
Add --scope user to use Dotsy in every project.
VS Code, Devin Desktop and other clients
Any client that supports remote (HTTP) MCP servers with OAuth sign-in works. Step-by-step instructions for VS Code (Copilot Chat in Agent mode) and Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) are on dotsy.ai/connect.
What can my AI do once it's connected?
Build a new site, import your existing one, edit text and images, add pages and blog posts, set up forms, check SEO and broken links, and publish. You stay in charge:
- In Settings › Rules & guidelines, choose what each agent may do on each site: read only, drafts only, drafts and publish, or full access, and add rules it must pass before it can publish.
- Every change, by a person or an agent, appears in Settings › Activity, and you can undo any of them. See How do I undo a publish or restore an earlier version?
FAQ
Do I need a Dotsy account first?
You sign in to Dotsy while connecting. Accounts are opening in waves during early access.
Is it safe to let an AI edit my site?
You choose its access level per site, and on plans with staging its changes wait as drafts for you to review. Every change is logged and can be undone.
Which AI works best?
Any AI that supports MCP works. Pick the one you already use.
My AI says it can't see Dotsy's tools.
Start a new chat after connecting, and check the connector is turned on for that chat. In Claude Code, run /mcp to see whether dotsy needs authentication.
