Version history: undo a publish, restore any version

Dotsy now saves every publish as a version. If a publish breaks something, click Undo and the previous version is live again; to go further back, open Settings › History and restore the site as it was on an earlier day.

"I published something and now the site looks wrong" is the most stressful moment in running a website. It should take one click to fix.

What's new?

  • Undo the last publish. Right after you publish, Undo puts the previous version back live at once. Your changes aren't thrown away: they're kept as unpublished changes, so you can fix them and publish again.
  • A History tab. Settings › History lists every publish, newest first: when it happened, who published it (a person, an AI agent or an API key) and how many pages changed.
  • Restore an earlier version. Pick a version, click Restore, and Dotsy shows what will change before anything goes live. On sites with staging, the restored pages arrive as drafts for you to check and publish.
  • Restore a single page. On Core and up, you can bring back one page as it was, without touching the rest of the site.
  • Safe by default. A restore never overwrites an edit someone makes while it runs, and it keeps a shared section that other pages still use.

How far back can I go?

Plan Restore versions from the last Single-page restore
Free 7 days No
Core, Studio, Agency 30 days Yes

Undo of the most recent publish works on every plan. See pricing for plan details.

What does a version include?

Page content: text, sections, layouts and shared sections. Page addresses, menus, images and site settings are not part of a version, so restoring leaves them as they are now.

How does this work with AI agents?

Agents can use history too. Each publish records whether a person or an agent made it, so you can see at a glance which publish to undo. Agents can do the same over MCP (list_versions, restore_version, undo_publish) and the HTTP API.

Pair it with Review changes to check edits before they go live, and read the step-by-step guide: How do I undo a publish or restore an earlier version?

FAQ

What's the difference between Undo and Restore?

Undo reverses only your most recent publish and goes live immediately. Restore brings back any version in your history window and, on sites with staging, lets you check it before publishing.

If I undo, do I lose my changes?

No. The undone changes are kept as unpublished changes. On sites without staging, where saves go live straight away, you get a Redo button instead.

Can I restore a page I deleted?

Yes, if the deletion was published within your history window: restoring a version from before the deletion brings the page content back.
